Vehicle Autonomy and Intelligence Lab
The Vehicle Autonomy and Intelligence Lab (VAIL) was established in May 2017 in the former swimming pool of Mabee Gym at the University of Tulsa. An area of 131 x 81 x 30 feet is used for flying and testing UAVs. The lab has since been used by many students and ECE faculty for their research and education in the fields of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and Artificial Intelligence, leading to publications in more than 20 journals, conferences and over 9 PhD dissertations and Master theses, as well as over 50 undergraduate senior/junior projects. In addition to IR-reflecting cameras and UWB radar technologies for accurate indoor localization, our lab is equipped with all the components needed to manufacture and test fixed wing and rotary drones.
